I have one LW polyline consisting lines and one or two arcs. It does not actually divide the polyline but rather marks the divisions with points.
Also Note that this routine asks you to pick 2 points along the poly line, so this routine only works on straight segments of polylines.

There are several methods to split lines, but not all are shared between 3D and 2D. Features with z-values will maintain their z's when the line is split.
