La comunidad cubana de nuestra isla es numerosa. Un gran numero de los cubanos que han abandonado su isla residen en Puerto RIco. No obstante, el platano frito que preparan los cubanos no es el mismo que preparan los puertorriquennos.

Te lo explico a continuacion. En PR se hacen dos tipos de "platano frito", el uno que es el platano frito cuando aun esta verde en cuyo caso se los llama "tostones"y el platano frito cuando ya ha madurado en cuyo caso se los llama "amarillos fritos. El platano frito que preparan los cubanos es fundamentalmente el del platano maduro. Y les gusta mas mientras mas maduro este el platano, incluso en el punto mas cercano de madurez que se acerca a la natural descomposicion del platano.

El maduro frito amarillos fritos que preparan los puertorriquennos se prepara de platanos no tan maduros. Pero no puede dejarse de mencionar a Santo Domingo, donde el platano es de mucho uso. En Republica Dominicana se hacen frituras de platano verde, igual que en Puerto Rico.

Pero no he visto en ningun lugar una opinion que este sustentada por algun estudio desapasionado y serio.
